CUSP Students Leave Home
For Their High School Education

From distant villages young men and women have just left their homes to follow their dreams of getting a high school education. Each has left behind the comfort and security of their friends and family. They have taken a huge step of faith and courage in the hopes of securing a better life for themselves and the future generations of Cambodians they represent. CUSP would like you to meet three of our kids.

From Koki Village

KHIN, Hin, 15, lives in Koki village in Salavisay Commune in Prasath Ballang District in Kampong Thom province. Her mother’s name is THEL, Hor, 35 and her father’s name is KHEA, Khin, 36. They are farmers with 4 children.

“I am very happy to know that I passed the scholarship test and I will commit to studying hard for my future”, she said. “With the scholarship provided, I will study hard to become a clever student, obey the disciple, be patient with friends, try to study English and computer and participate in learning the bible on Sunday in church. In my future, I want to work as an interpreter.”

New Dorm Kitchen

You might recall that the old kitchen at the girl’s dorm was destroyed by fire earlier this year. Thanks to hard work and generosity of many, the new kitchen is up and running…just in time of the new school year.

Special thanks go to the teens at Westminster Chapel. It was their fund drive that really made this all possible.

KHIN, left, dreams of becoming an interpreter.

VAN CHANTRA, center, hopes to become a doctor.

KHIM, center, plans on working for ACLEDA, the leading commercial bank in Cambodia.

Students in the new kitchen.
